Phoenix Communities
The city of Phoenix is located in Maricopa County which is often referred to as the Valley of the Sun. The city itself has a 2006 population of 1,512,186 but the entire Metro Area of Phoenix includes over 4 million residents. Its suburban sister-cities include Anthem, Apache Junction, Avondale, Carefree, Cave Creek, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Goodyear, Fountain Hills, Mesa, Litchfield Park, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Phoenix, Queen Creek, Scottsdale, Sun City, Surprise and Tempe Arizona.

City of Phoenix Villages.
The city limits of the City of Phoenix is divided into 15 Villages which belong to Phoenix. Each Village is under a "Village Planning Committee" which is administrated by the Phoenix City Council. The Villages include Ahwatukee Foothills, Alhambra, Camelback East, Central City, Deer Valley, Desert View, Encanto, Estrella, Laveen, Maryvale, New Village, North Gateway, North Mountain, Paradise Valley, and South Mountain.
